GRADE CENTER: How do I create Category and Status Smart Views?

A Smart View is a filtered view of Blackboard Grade Center. Instructors can use this tool to quickly access grade center information that matches set criteria.


With smart views, you may view:

  • An existing group
  • Student performance for a particular item
  • Individual students
  • Category and status of items
  • Custom combination of attributes 

How to create a Smart View

  1. In Grade Center highlight Manage.


     
  2. Select Smart Views.


     
  3. Click Create Smart View.


     
  4. Enter a name.


     
  5. In the Selection Criteria menu, select a Type of View.
    • Course Group: Subsections of students. You must create course groups before you can use them as selection criteria.
    • Performance: Student performance on a single item, such as an assignment.
    • User: Individual students.
    • Category and Status: Based on a category, user or users, and grade status. Example: Select the Blog category, one or more users or groups, and a status, such as Completed.
    • Custom: A query for selecting students using a combination of attributes.
  6. Edit the settings in the Select Criteria and Filter Results sections if necessary.


     
  7. Click Submit.

How to edit a Smart View

  1. In Grade Center highlight Manage.


     
  2. Select Smart Views.


     
  3. Highlight a Smart View and click the grey arrow and choose Edit.


     
  4. Click Submit.

How to delete a Smart View

  1. In Grade Center highlight Manage.


     
  2. Select Smart Views.


     
  3. lick the box next to a Smart View to select it.


     
  4. Click Delete.

     


Note: Deleting a smart view does not delete any data from Grade Center.
