RUBRICS: How does an instructor Create a Rubric in an Assignment?

A Blackboard Instructor may follow the steps below to create, access or delete a Rubric within an Assignment.


How to create a Rubric

  1. Click the Assessment button in the Content Area.
  2. Click Assignment
  3. Enter a Name and Color and Instructions.
  4. Enter Points Possible.
  5. Click the Add Rubrics button.
  6. Click Create New Rubric.  
  7. Enter a Name and Description.
  8. Enter Percent for each category, totaling 100%.
  9. Add a comment in the text box appropriate to the percentage score (e.g. Your organization skills need improving).
  10. Click Submit.

How to access Rubrics

  1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the name of the rubric to open the menu options.
  2. Select View Associated Content.
  3. All items associated with that rubric are listed on this page.
  4. Click the Item Name to edit the association or click OK to return to the main Rubrics page.

How to delete a Rubric

  1. Under the Control Panel select Course Tools.
  2. Select Rubrics.
  3. Go to the rubric you wish to delete. 
  4. Click the drop-down arrow next to the name of the rubric to expand the option menu. 
  5. Click Delete.
  6. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion as it is final and can not be reversed. 
  7. Click either Ok or Cancel.
