C&IT wireless access point use policy
By university policy 02-2 Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) is responsible for all voice, data and video networks, wired and wireless, at Wayne State University. In this role, C&IT is providing WiFi coverage to the university via a centrally managed and administered wireless network. This campus wireless network ensures access to the network is secured, that a common user interface is presented, and that channels on the wireless network are allocated so as to reduce interference and service interruptions.
Wireless access points installed by individual departments, employees or students may be removed from the campus network if C&IT currently provides WiFi access in that area. If central WiFi is not yet available in the immediate area, such wireless access points may be allowed to remain active provided they are properly secured. The C&IT network engineer assigned to your building can assist. Please contact Network Engineering at (313) 577-5558 for additional information.
