How can I find the AccessID for someone who has messages forwarded to another email address?

Sometimes email messages sent to students are returned with a message stating that the email ID does not exist or that the email account is over quota and cannot receive messages. Often these messages give an email address outside of Wayne State University because the students have their email forwarded to another email address.


You may search on Academica for the name and AccessID that goes with the forwarding address supplied in the return message you received. Follow the steps below to search the Wayne State University Directory by alternate email.

  1. Log in to Academica at and select the Account Management option from the Users/Settings icon (the silhouette in the upper-right).
  2. Click Search WSU Directory on the left sidebar.
  3. Enter the email address given in the returned message.
  4. Click Search.
  5. The results will give you the student's name and AccessID.
