C&IT wireless access point use policy

According to university policy 02-2, C&IT is responsible for all wired and wireless voice, data and video networks and related infrastructure at Wayne State University.

C&IT provides Wi-Fi coverage to the university via a centrally managed and administered network. This ensures access to the network is always secure, a common user interface is presented and channels on the network are allocated to reduce interference and service interruptions.

Wi-Fi or wireless access points installed by individual students, faculty, staff or university schools, colleges or departments may be removed from the network if C&IT currently provides Wi-Fi in that area. If central Wi-Fi is not yet available in the immediate area, such wireless access points may be allowed to remain active, provided they are proven secure.

C&IT is available to assist with all networking questions and concerns. Please contact the C&IT Help Desk at 313-577-4357 for additional information.
