Webcam proctoring guidelines and standards
Purpose
These guidelines define how webcam proctoring can be appropriately used at Wayne State University to ensure a balance between academic honesty and the protection of personal privacy. Wayne State strives to create a fair and respectful examination environment for all students, ensuring both the integrity of teaching and learning processes as well as personal privacy.
Scope
Human proctoring via webcam is permitted during exams to monitor and assist students in real-time.
Room scans and the use of AI-based cheating detection tools are strictly prohibited unless an exception is provided by the Office of the Provost beforehand and the use of such tools has been proven necessary for accreditation purposes.
These guidelines and standards are put forth by the Office of the Provost and C&IT.
