How can I reset my son/daughter/spouse/other relative's AccessID password?
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law designed to protect the privacy of a student's records. Under this law, the C&IT Help Desk CAN NOT reset passwords for an AccessID without receiving the account holder's permission first. For someone who is not the account holder to be granted permission to reset the password for a son, daughter, spouse, grandchild, or other relatives, the student needs to submit the FERPA release. Once the form is submitted and processed, a relative may request permission to reset a student's AccessID password.
A password reset may be done over the phone if requested by the account holder directly. Please contact the C&IT Help Desk at 313-577-4357 for assistance.
