How can I reset my son/daughter/spouse/other relative's AccessID password?

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that is designed to protect the privacy of a student's records. Under this law, the C&IT Help Desk cannot reset passwords for an AccessID without receiving the permission of the account holder first. In order for someone who is not the account holder to be granted permission to reset the password for a son, daughter, spouse, grandchild or other relative, the student needs to print and fill out the FERPA Release form from the Office of the Registrar's website and return it to that office. Once the form is submitted and entered into the Wayne State University administrative system, a relative may then request permission to reset a student's AccessID password.

A password reset may be done over the phone if requested by the account holder directly. Please contact the C&IT Help Desk for assistance.
