How do I install GlobalProtect and use it to connect to the VPN?
Wayne State uses GlobalProtect to connect to the VPN. Follow the steps below to download and use the tool on your Windows or macOS computer; ChromeOS instructions are available in a separate article. If you do not have a smartphone or tablet to use for multifactor authentication, please contact the C&IT Help Desk at 313-577-4357 for support.
- Download the correct client for your machine at go.wayne.edu/vpn-gpdownloads and follow the prompts for installation. You will only have to do this step once.
- Have your second device ready to approve multifactor authentication.
- When prompted, fill out the required fields with the information below.
- Portal: protect.wayne.edu
- Username: AccessID (e.g. xy0000)
- Password: Your AccessID password
- Confirm your login with multifactor authentication.
- If you do not approve MFA, you will not connect and the connecting message will remain on the GlobalProtect login screen.
- MacOS users may need to approve additional security settings.
- Five failed login attempts will lock your account for 15 minutes.
