How do I make changes to the Mac OS X firewall?
Follow the steps below to make changes to the Mac OS X firewall.
- Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu in the upper left corner of the display.
- Click Sharing in the System Preferences window.
- Click the Firewall button.
- If window states Firewall Off then click the Start button to start the firewall.
- To add a service:
- Click New.
- Choose the application's name (or Other) from the Port Name dropdown menu.
- Enter the TCP port(s) in TCP Port Number(s) and/or UDP port(s) in UDP Port Number(s).
- Enter the application or service in the Description field if it is present.
- click OK.
- Leaving the System Preferences window open, test the application to make sure the port is working correctly.
- When you are sure the application is working correctly, choose Quit from the System Preferences menu.
