How do I set up and use Google Authenticator for the Grid?
Google Authenticator is used for multifactor authentication (MFA) with the Grid due to specific system requirements; All other Wayne State IT systems and services use Microsoft Authenticator.
Download the Google Authenticator mobile app
Log in to Grid OnDemand
- Connect to the WSU VPN (required for Grid OnDemand)
- Navigate to the Grid OnDemand at ondemand.grid.wayne.edu
- Enter your AccessID and password
- Navigate to the Grid OnDemand at ondemand.grid.wayne.edu
- Access setup
- Click the Interactive Apps menu
- Select 2FA Setup from the dropdown menu
- Click the Interactive Apps menu
- Start the setup
- Click Launch to start the job and run the setup process
- After the job starts, click Launch 2FA Setup
- A new tab will open and a QR code will be displayed on your screen
- Click Launch to start the job and run the setup process
- Set up Google Authenticator
- Open the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device
- Click + and then click Scan a QR Code
- Use your device's camera to scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen
- Open the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device
- Complete the setup
- The app will generate a one-time verification code for login
- The app will generate a one-time verification code for login
Log in to the Grid with the new two-step multifactor authentication process when setup is complete.
- Log in with your AccessID and password
- Open the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device when prompted and enter the one-time verification code
