Online Toolkits provide faculty, academic staff with webcams and headsets for fall
Our new virtual world requires new tools. Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) and the Office for Teaching and Learning (OTL) are working together to provide Wayne State instructors and academic staff with webcams and headsets for the fall semester.
This new effort stems from campus restart planning to best support Wayne State employees who work directly with students and who have a direct influence on their success.
"Supporting students begins with supporting and equipping the employees they rely on," said C&IT Senior Director of Customer Services, Melissa Crabtree. "Giving our employees the tools they need to maintain open and mutually beneficial dialogue with our students is the first step to setting up all Warriors for success."
Items in the toolkit may used to record lessons with Lecture Capture or to collaborate with students in real-time via Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
How to get your toolkit
Items will be tagged and processed by C&IT DeskTech, and distributed via contact-free pick up on campus. Dates and more information about availability, allotment and hardware specifications will be shared as it becomes available.
Eligibility is based on faculty and staff assignments for the fall.
Due to the high demand for technology to support virtual learning, and shipping and handling delays due to COVID-19, items may not be available by the beginning of the fall semester. C&IT will reach out to individual schools, colleges, and departments to schedule distribution as soon as possible.
Funding for this program is made possible by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
