C&IT awards 2017 scholarship to Michanda Gant

Computing & Information Technology is excited to announce the winner of the 2017 C&IT Scholarship, Michanda Gant. Wayne State University Associate Vice President and C&IT Chief Information Officer Daren Hubbard and the rest of C&IT presented Michanda with her reward earlier this summer, including a new laptop from our partners at Dell.

As a student of the WSU School of Social Work, Michanda used her essay to portray how she overcame obstacles earlier in life with hard work and determination, and how she hopes to use her degree to help others who find themselves in a similar situation.

"In our changing social context, it is important that those most vulnerable are represented by those who can properly identify with their struggles," Michanda wrote.

The C&IT Scholarship is offered to WSU undergraduate students annually. The award recognizes scholastic achievement, encourages continued progress, and provides financial and technological assistance for completing degree requirements. This award is made possible through the generosity of current and past employees, corporate philanthropy and C&IT's innovative entrepreneurial activities.
