C&IT's Marketing, Communications, and Training team provides IT training via instructional hands-on sessions both in-person and virtually. Sessions are designed to familiarize Wayne State University employees with IT systems and services available to effectively manage day-to-day work.

Available sessions

Sessions cover applications available through campus-wide enterprise licensing, including: Microsoft Office365 and Wayne State email, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Applications, Zoom, and Qualtrics.

Session Description
Microsoft Teams Basics When you have a place to create and make decisions as a team, there is no limit to what you can achieve. Microsoft Teams brings everything together in a shared workspace where you can chat, meet, share files, and work with business apps. This training session will get you up and going with Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams Advanced Advanced Teams training sessions cover new features in-meeting controls, breakout rooms + pre-assigned breakout rooms, presenting using screen sharing and PowerPoint, new features in conversations, and integrating MS Teams in Canvas courses.
Microsoft 365 Basics Microsoft 365 Basics covers the Wayne State email, free/busy scheduling, and collaboration system. By the end of this session, you will be able to effectively manage your email and calendar and navigate to the different Office 365 applications  Word Online, PowerPoint Online, Excel Online, OneNote, and OneDrive.
Microsoft 365 Apps Overview Learn how to use additional apps included in the university Microsoft 365 license, such as Forms, Sway, Stream, Lists, and more. Working in the web browser version of MS 365, we will go through the apps that can help make your work easier and more organized.
Microsoft Forms Learn how to build forms, such as surveys and quizzes, invite others to participate using almost any web browser or mobile device, see results in real-time, evaluate responses with built-in analytics, and export results to Excel for further analysis!

How to sign up

Users can register for sessions using the calender above or via Academica by navigating to the Employee Resources menu > Other Resources > Training, Seminars, and Workshops (see below). 

  • Meeting links for virtual sessions are shared with registered attendees via email. 
  • Sessions are also available for scheduling for specific school, college, and department work teams. To inquire, please contact the IT training team.
